Probably my favorite leadership metaphor is “holding the canteen,” referring to the difference in mindset when you go from wanting water to being the one who needs to try to keep everyone from dying of dehydration.

Today is my ex-spouse’s birthday. I hope he has a happy one! I’m still glad we got married, even though the relationship is concluded. No one tells you that relationships can just end and not be acrimonious. 12.5y was a very good run. And it’s so so so good for us both that we’re not with each other any more!

Lately I just can’t sleep. So I’ve been going in to work an hour or more earlier than my “schedule” would dictate, and logging off around 4. It’s been super nice to have so much morning and so little afternoon.
